This procedure uses absorbable surgical threads placed deep to the skin in the subdermal layer to provide immediate volume and initiate collagen production. This minimally invasive procedure results in increased volume, firmness and elasticity of the skin that continues to improve over the course of 6-9 months depending on the initial health of the skin.
Threads vary in terms of length, thickness (gauge) and function (smooth, coiled, barbed) depending on the area treated and purpose of the procedure. Barbed threads are used in areas where skin is to be lifted or pulled back. Coiled and smooth threads are used in areas to increase volume. Depending on the goal of the procedure, your provider will use any combination of thread types and will discuss the plan with your prior to the procedure.
